Rachel’s Reflections
As we continue walking together into God’s ever-reforming ways of expressing and embodying mission, I pray these reflections help clarify the work before us and broaden our shared sense of call. To that end, I am sharing two recent articles from the Presbyterian News Service (PNS) that illuminate what we are doing together.
Expanding the table: Global Ecumenical Partnerships, offers an introduction and overview of the Global Ecumenical Partnerships office. Legal Defense Fund visits Springfield, Ohio, is written by our colleague Cindy Corell, who also serves as a Global Ecumenical Liaison across four synods. Additionally, Cindy works closely with our Haitian neighbors—both in Haiti and those living in diaspora communities in the United States. Her deep and enduring relationships, formed during many years as a mission co-worker alongside Haitian partners, continue to shape her ministry. In this article, Cindy shares how Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Ohio, is connecting with multiple partners as they prepare for the possible need to protect their Haitian neighbors amid concerns of potential ICE targeting. It is a powerful, concrete example of how our connectional church joins hands with community partners in God’s mission. I give thanks for Cindy’s long-standing presence with our Haitian siblings, both abroad and nearby, including within our own Miami Valley Presbytery, who issued this powerful statement in support of their Haitian neighbors.
